A Legacy of Karate Excellence in Indiana
Founded in the late 1950s, Olympic Karate School is the oldest karate school in Northwest Indiana and one of the first three karate schools in the state. Through the instruction of Master Richard DeMerse, Master George Cimesa, and Master John Nemtuda, the school has produced three world champions and generations of disciplined martial artists.
Instruction Led by Master John Nemtuda
Master John Nemtuda is a master of Shotokan Karate with over 50 years of martial arts experience. He teaches students from age 3 through adulthood, focusing on strikes, blocks, kicks, and practical self-defense. Beginner sparring is introduced with moderate, controlled contact. Students are expected to work hard, memorize techniques, and earn each belt rank through dedication and effort.
Classes emphasize focus, discipline, teamwork, courage, and leadership.
Private lessons are available.
